Three towers are going up on this block.

For decades the four acres between NE 6th and NE 8th Street held a big bookstore, a movie theatre and parking. They are now an excavation that will hold three high-rises of homes, hotel rooms and offices. This page keeps track of it in plain terms.

What the plan says

The City of Bellevue approved the project in June 2022. The approved version puts apartments and a hotel in the first tower, more apartments in the second, and roughly 870,000 square feet of offices plus a daycare in the third. All three rise from a shared three-story base, with about 1,700 parking spaces underground.

Plans for large projects shift as they are built. A 2026 application asks to move the hotel into the office tower, and it has not been decided. Until the city approves a change, the numbers above are the ones on record.

Where it stands

  1. The block is sold for redevelopment and a land-use application is filed.
  2. The city issues its land-use approval for the three-tower plan.
  3. The old buildings come down and the block is cleared.
  4. Earthwork. Shoring piles go in around the edges so the hole for the garage can be dug safely. Nothing has risen above street level yet.

About this page

606 Bellevue is an independent notebook kept by people who walk past the site. It is not connected to the developer, the design team or the City of Bellevue. Figures come from public permits and approvals. If a number has changed, the city's permit records are the place to check.

More is coming here: photos from the sidewalk, a plain-language guide to the permits, and notes on what each new phase of work means for the street.
